LIVE - Oakwood Red Oak Clock

The Oakwood children spent the year sanding, rasping, sawing, and oiling to bring this clock into the world. There is something miraculous and inspiring about many small, hard-working hands coming together to transform something as hard as oak into a functional, beautiful heirloom! Locally sourced red oak; finished with walnut oil. Ready to hang. (Gratitude to Stephen Oubre, alum parent and master woodworker, for helping make this all possible.)

LIVE - Grade 5 Mushroom on Driftwood

Fifth grade enjoyed the botany block so much that we decided to use inspirations from our many hikes when we looked for fungi, lichens, mosses and ferns. Much like our grade, each mushroom is individual in its form and color but stands close together in a tight-knit group.

Each student picked a mushroom and painted it any way they pleased. Each student drilled the hole for their mushroom and glued the mushroom into the hole.

LIVE - Rose Meadow Felted Flowers

This spring, the Rose Meadow children set out to create something truly special — a garden of felted flowers made with their own hands and hearts.

Each child chose their favorite colors and, with the help of Laura and Lauren, gently soaked the wool with warm, soapy water using a little sprinkler bulb. After covering their designs with gauze, they rubbed and pressed the wool with bubble wrap and wooden tools, slowly turning soft fibers into strong, colorful felt. They flipped and rubbed again, and finally rolled their work up tightly in bamboo mats — rolling and rolling with great care until the pieces were just right.

With their beautiful felted rounds finished, Lauren needle-felted each one into a unique flower. Meanwhile, Laura shaped a beautiful clay vase, fired with the generous help of Muse Jar’s kiln.

Together, these handmade flowers and vase capture the joy, patience, and creativity of the Rose Meadow children. May this blooming creation bring a little piece of their wonder into your home.

LIVE - Grade 6/7 Wet Felted Mobiles

Up, Up Up, and Away

The 6th and 7th-grade auction project is a combination of wet and needle felting skills, the curriculum specific to the 7th-grade handwork class. The 7th graders worked collaboratively to make wet-felted balloons, clouds, planes, and other shapes. They then took wool roving and made needle-felted stars, which they dyed yellow during class. Each mobile is a slightly different theme, picked and accessorized by the students.

LIVE - Grade 8 Tie Dyed Collection

This year, the Grade 8 explored the process of creating special and unique tie-dye gifts. For our Winter Collection, we used snow and powdered dye to create beautiful garments for babies and toddlers. Just before spring break, we completed our Spring Collection using traditional methods to tie-dye curtains, napkins, and pillowcases. By folding, twisting, spraying, and using rubber bands, we gained more control over the final product's appearance. Lastly, we practiced simple embroidery stitches to add creative embellishments to our work. From the hearts of Grade 8, “We hope you enjoy these treasures as much as we enjoyed creating them!”
