Wannigan by Lew Markle
Custom-built, hardwood Wannigan with a lift out lid. The word wannigan comes from the Ojibway Indians, who used it to describe the rough wooden boxes used by the voyagers of the Hudson Bay Company to haul goods used in the fur trade. “Today, I build these more refined wannigans using many of the same materials and techniques that I use in building traditional wood/canvas canoes. These pieces are used as coffee tables, end tables, toy boxes, knitting boxes, etc., or they will fit perfectly into your canoe!”
